I created The Dropman Family as an educational character series designed to help children understand the importance of protecting and valuing water. Through approachable storytelling and friendly visuals, the project aims to raise awareness from an early age about one of the most fundamental issues affecting communities worldwide.
Water is essential for life, yet millions of people still lack access to clean and safe drinking water. In Ethiopia alone, an estimated 250,000 people die every year from consuming contaminated water. The consequences of unsafe water are devastating—drinking, cooking, and washing in polluted water leave entire communities vulnerable to illnesses such as bronchitis, tonsillitis, various waterborne diseases, and even life-threatening conditions like malaria.
Globally, waterborne diseases remain one of the leading causes of illness and death. A significant proportion of these cases can be traced to inadequate sanitation, limited access to hygiene facilities, and unsafe drinking water.
The Dropman Family was created as a positive, child-friendly way to communicate these urgent issues. By simplifying complex global challenges into accessible narratives, the project empowers children to understand the value of clean water and encourages them to become more aware, responsible, and compassionate about the world around them.
